How to Design a Smile?

In smile design, it is very important to understand the aesthetic expectations of the patient correctly and to determine the needs correctly. Problems are determined and plans are made on the models prepared through the measurements taken from the patient’s mouth. Then, measurements are made using special programs in the computer environment with oral and facial photos of the patients and the adaptation to the face shape is calculated. The most approximate images that will occur after the treatment are presented to the patient with programs and temporary restorations prepared in accordance with the patient’s mouth and their ideas are taken.

After the planning is completed, if orthodontic treatment is not required, level disorders in the gums are regulated first. In cases where dental deficiencies are found, planned implant procedures and other surgical applications are performed as necessary.  Teeth whitening procedures are applied if needed after the healing periods of surgical applications are completed. After this stage, visual and formal disorders in the teeth are sometimes eliminated through aesthetic composite fillings. In cases where this method is not enough, porcelain laminated and coatings and zirconium coatings come into play. For porcelain laminated applications, there is usually no ausmination of the teeth or minimal aerations are performed. If porcelain or zirconium applications are deemed appropriate, a number of changes can be made by taking the patient’s ideas again during the rehearsals during the stages. Lip shape and contour are also taken into consideration during all these gum and dental applications and in rehearsals and the targeted design is finalized.

Sometimes medical aesthetic applications are also used during smile design. Smile can be brought to the forefront with dermal filling etc. applied to the lip and face areas.
